The development of the COTB system has spanned multiple years, coinciding with the continuous professional development of Luke’s engineering career. Initially conceived as a means to capture imagery from the stratosphere, COTB has evolved to encompass a comprehensive suite of functionalities. These include the capacity to measure both internal and external parameters such as temperature, humidity, and pressure. Additionally, the system offers the option to integrate a Geiger Muller detector, enabling the measurement of cosmic radiation levels.

COTB has achieved distinction by securing the MBARS construction competition accolade and has further demonstrated its prowess by surpassing an altitude of 100,000 feet, equating to one-third of the Kármán Line. The design of COTB meticulously incorporates advanced features, including CRC and error correction mechanisms, ensuring the seamless transmission of high-fidelity live images to the ground station.
